The case for a lighter store

Seasonal revenue should not require year-round software weight.

A seasonal store needs dependable checkout during a concentrated launch, then a way to stop new sales while fulfilling existing orders. Prepare in draft, publish when ready, and unpublish after the season. Retained data and background activity can still incur usage charges.

01

Prepare before launch

Build catalog, stock, discounts, shipping, and tax configuration while the store remains unpublished.

02

Protect scarce stock

Conditional inventory reservations protect the final tracked unit for up to 15 minutes. Shipping quotes or tax calculations can shorten that window.

03

Close deliberately

Unpublishing stops new purchases while retaining customer-service pages. Delayed deletion provides a grace period to cancel before data purge.

A workable path

From decision to first order.

  1. 01

    Stage

Set up products and operations privately ahead of your selling window.

  2. 02

    Publish

Publish the catalog when hosting and platform billing are ready. Connect Stripe and finish shipping setup before enabling checkout.

  3. 03

    Wind down

Fulfill remaining orders and unpublish when the season ends. Review outstanding usage charges before deciding whether to keep the store for next season or begin cancellable delayed deletion.

A strong fit for

Know before you build.

  • Holiday collections
  • Harvest and garden goods
  • Limited product drops
  • Event and festival merchandise

Plain answers

Answers before you start.

Can I prepare products before the season starts?

Yes. Draft stores can be configured before publishing, including catalog, inventory, discounts, shipping, and optional Stripe Tax.

Can I pause selling without deleting everything?

Yes. Unpublish to stop new purchases while retaining the store. Existing customers can still reach order recovery and configured policies. Retained data and customer-service activity may still incur charges.

What happens if two people buy the last item?

Checkout uses conditional inventory reservations so only one checkout can reserve the final tracked unit.

Can I reverse a deletion request?

A scheduled store deletion can be cancelled during its grace period. After the purge begins, recovery is not guaranteed.
